It Ain 't FTL is a tactical space roguelike about commanding a battered pirate ship through hostile star sectors.
Travel across a branching star chart, survive random encounters, fight enemy ships in real time, and keep your crew alive through fires, hull breaches, boarding attacks, oxygen failures, and system damage. Pause the action, reroute power, target enemy rooms, send crew to repair critical systems, and decide when to risk one more jump before finding a shop.
Every run builds a different story. Recruit strange crew members with personal histories, discover faction quests and secrets, collect trophies, upgrade your ship, and assemble increasingly dangerous weapon combinations. Enemies range from small raiders to massive capital ships with larger crews, tougher layouts, and brutal boarding pressure.
Current features include:
- Real-time ship combat with tactical pause
- Crew movement, repairs, oxygen, fires, breaches, and boarding defense
- Modular weapon systems with many weapon types and Mk upgrades
- Ship upgrades, power management, shops, and scrap economy
- Branching star-chart travel with random encounters
- Faction quests, secrets, crew stories, and recruitable characters
- Save/load support
- Sound effects and background music
This is an active prototype/alpha build. Feedback is especially helpful on difficulty, pacing, UI clarity, weapon balance, and whether the run-to-run choices feel meaningful.
